Topic: Hi, I'm new

My name is George and I'm new.

Years ago back when php 3 was new I tore apart a shopping cart and turned it into a Real Estate site.

I just downloaded and am setting up a FreeRealty site for a prospective new client of mine.

It was pretty easy to get it installed and running, just a couple of stumbles and that's fine as I understand what open source is all about.

My question is I can't default the location to Nevada.  It's always Alabama.

I was going to go into the database and remove all the states except Nevada but I thought I better ask about that first.

http://66.196.34.103/~pri/index.php  is waht I'm working on.  My customer is dealing with Network Solutions trying to get her DNS servers changed to mine.

Thanks,  George

Hi George, I noticed that you have a bunch of posts - I just released FR-3.0-0.rc7 with some changes that might make a difference to you. If you look at the page source of your pages you will notice that I had "selected" in quotes. IE seems to ignore the "selected" when it's in quotes (properly I believe) The latest release candidate removes the quote marks.

Thanks Pat.

I will look into it as I have rc06

Re: Hi, I'm new

I just deleted every state except Nevada from the DB so she could work with it.  She does like it so far.

I've never had an issue with using a '  or a " with IE6.   I prefer a ' as that speeds up php.

Re: Hi, I'm new

I don't remember which version of IE had the issue, but one did completely ignore selected when it was in quotes eg. "selected" vs. selected in the select list. This is correct behavior as the "selected" is wrong, but FireFox never complained so my code was not corrected until it was pointed out that IE was ignoring it on the agentadmin.php page.

As for a single vs. double quotes they have two different behaviors in php. Although I could probably use single quotes in more places to speed up parsing and display, it's not something that I have spent too much time on unless it affects the expected output.

PS: took a quick look at your working page; using FF 2.0.0.11 Win98se(yeah I know)  600x800 (again I know wink ) the background image appears to the right offset from the "framing box" that I threw up to help me with my basic css.
