Topic: Logging into anything...NOT!

I have installed this script 3 times and I am still not able to log into anything.  I get the login screen, but when I put in the login info, the screen blinks, the filled in blanks are blank again and just nothing happens.  Is there a big secret to installing this script.  I was under the impression that it was suppose to be so simple!

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

Hi Codi,
I was unable to login at first as well, but it's working in FR-3.0-0.rc3. I'm not entirely sure what was unsetting the POST variables - it only seems to have affected you and me so far. If your database is setup, simply unpacking FR-3.0-0.rc3 over the top of your existing install (keep your common.php file) should allow you to log in.

Apologies for this problem.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

OK, I'm not exactly new to installing scripts, but you have me confused with your statement.  my database is set up and filled by the install30.php file and all the files have been uploaded to the server with common.php file changes made...but I can't go anywhere on the site.

Are you using release candidate 3? I only uploaded it within the last hour. If you are not, can you please try rc3 to see if the login issue is fixed? You do not need to make any changes other than to copy the files from rc3 onto your web server. Keep your existing common.php file.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

OK, will try it...thanks

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

OK, downloaded release 3 and deleted everything from the server, redid common.php to match database and uploaded #3...still can't login to anything.

The admin name that you set up. Than admin/password combination should be in the users table. The name in common.php should be the database user name.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

Where do you set up the admin name and the password?  I have changed the user name in the users table a number of times and none work!

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

when I do the install30.php install I get this:

Please enter your the username and password that you use to connect to the database with (from common.php)

Login Name:

Password:

Server Base URL:
Installation Path:
Includes path:

Enter the correct user and password

so I put in the database user name that I set up in the common.php file but it doesn't matter what I put in nothing works.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

The admin name and password should be in the users table. The user_level should be admin or authorized user. This is the login for admin/admin.php.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

really weird that you are an enrolled agent.  My wife and I are selling our accounting firm...closing on the 30th of this month.  We've been at it for 35 years.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

I can't log in either.  Has there been a solution to the problem?  Thanks!

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

Where are you having the problem logging in? The main issue seems to be that some configurations keep the login credentials. Using the logout.php page should reset these. Other times, the database may not be created with an admin user or might have a blank admin password. If you check the database you can see if the password has been set in the users table.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

I was told by the person who created my database that it looks like the database has a blank admin password.  I have been browsing through the database trying to figure out where I can edit to fix but I don't know enough about mySQL or the database to know how to do it.  I don't even know if it is reasonable to expect you to be able to provide a post that could direct me.  Thanks!

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

It will not let you log in with a blank password. If you are able to get to the database directly it is as simple as setting a password for the admin user. This can be done through most MySQL tools including the MySQL shell.

update users set password = '(somepassword)' where user = '(admin user name)';

replace "somepassword" with your new password and "admin user name" is the name already in the database as your admin user.

Thank you very much!  I got in!  Then..... I was greated by the following warning "Your image listings folder "/export/home/***********.***/public_html/realty/images/listings" is not writable by the web server. Image uploads will fail."  Now what do I do?

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

I had the same problem with the install.  I had to get into the database and set a password for the admin account.

Then I could login.

Re: Logging into anything...NOT!

The admin password issue should be fixed in the latest release candiate FR-3.0-0.rc7.
